4F-PCC versus FFP use in warfarin-treated patients: data from two multicentre trials

Dr Joshua Goldstein describes the evidence from clinical trials comparing the efficacy and safety of four-factor prothrombin complex concentrate (4F-PCC) with fresh frozen plasma (FFP) where rapid reversal of vitamin K antagonists is required. The patients were either experiencing acute bleeding or in need of an urgent surgical procedure. Presented as part of the satellite symposium 'Managing bleeding emergencies with PCC: new information and guidelines' at the 37th ISICEM on 22 March 2017, supported by CSL Behring.
