Living with MG: A patient perspective

What can doctors learn from people with myasthenia gravis (MG) about the impact of the condition and the pitfalls of the healthcare system? Neurologist Dr Renato Mantegazza talks to Domenico Montalto, a person with MG, to find out.

Dr Renato Mantegazza is an emeritus affiliate of the Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Neurologico ‘Carlo Besta’ in Milan, Italy, where he was formerly Director of the Neuroimmunology and Neuromuscular Diseases Unit. His scientific interests include MG, Lambert–Eaton syndrome, multiple sclerosis, motor neuron disease and inflammatory myopathies.

Domenico Montalto is a high school teacher from Palermo, Italy. He was diagnosed with MG in 2019 and has since trialled a number of treatments to slow disease progression.
