Delays in urticaria treatment need to be evaluated by considering each country's healthcare system individually. However, BRIDGE study shows us the long waiting times and difficulty patients face in accessing treatment.

This study as a pre-implementation survey, revealed that the average delay in urticaria diagnosis was around two years. And on average, patients were evaluated by six physicians before diagnosing CSU.

Despite antihistamine treatment, 84% of patients remained uncontrolled, and 36% of patients experienced treatments delays due to switching physicians. Overall, 60% of GPs reported having little to no knowledge about urticaria management. And 61% reported having no awareness of CSU guidelines. And 80% of GPs agreed that further training on CSU diagnosis and management was important or very important, and that's why knowledge of CSU management awareness, and regular use of CSU guidelines were higher among patients reported outcomes, users versus non-users.

This survey highlighted especially that few GPs currently also patients reported outcomes in their clinical practise, and considerable gaps in knowledge of optimal CSU management and awareness of treatment guidelines exist.

Most GPs manage CSU in collaboration with specialists. However, often there is a long waiting time between referral and specialist appointments.
