Biliary cancer: ESMO Clinical Practice Guidelines for diagnosis, treatment and follow-up

Read time: 1 mins
Last updated:31st Aug 2016

Biliary tract cancer comprises <1% of all human cancers and ∼10%–15% of all primary liver cancers. They are subclassified into important subtypes including intrahepatic or extrahepatic (perihilar or distal) cholangiocarcinoma and bladder cancer, each of which has its own specific characteristics requiring individual work-up. These guidelines focus on diagnosis and pathology/molecular biology, staging and risk assessment and management of biliary cancer including follow-up and long-term implications.
