Did you know, rare diseases will affect 1 in 20 people at some point during their lifetime. This means that more and more people will encounter a debilitating condition which has a real impact on quality of life. What is more, rare diseases can often feel like conditions without an end, with treatment opportunities, breakthrough drugs and relief hard to come by.

Rare Disease Day occurs on the last day of February and since its launch in 2008, it has succeeded in raising awareness amongst the general public and decision-makers about rare diseases and their impact on patients' lives.

Medthority.com is proud to support this Rare Disease Day on the 28th February.

Because many rare diseases go undiagnosed for the majority of the patients life, treatment can be problematic and inconsistent. It is the hope of EURORDIS and its Council of National Alliances that the thousands of events have taken place throughout the world reaching hundreds of thousands of people will help raise the profile of all rare diseases and the often misunderstood options that exist for patients.

At Medthority.com we cover several rare diseases in some depth – encouraging healthcare professionals to gain a better understanding of conditions they might only come across a handful of times in their professional career. Through online medical education we hope to improve understanding of rare diseases through detailed knowledge centres. Diseases such as the lysosomal storage disorders, including Hunter, Fabry and Gaucher disease are given extensive coverage through disease awareness and treatment information.

Hyperannomenia, a rare condition which can prove fatal to newborn children also benefits from a deep dive into recognising symptoms and signs which a healthcare professional may only discover a handful times across their career.

Cushing’s syndrome, and Nethropathic Cystinosis are also the subject of dedicated Knowledge Centres.

Rare diseases have become something of a focal point at Medthority.com. We pride ourselves in providing information for healthcare professionals that will drive measurable changes in our ability to treat rare diseases as a society and improve patient outcomes globally

said Ian Daley, Operations Director

Medthority.com works with the pharmaceutical to create online medical education that can help deliver detailed information to healthcare professionals on some of the rarest diseases known.
