Study shows resveratrol counteracts exercise benefits
A new study in 27 men who were randomized into 8 weeks of either daily intake of either resveratrol or placebo concomitant with high-intensity exercise training suggests that whereas exercise training effectively improves several cardiovascular health parameters in aged men, resveratrol supplementation blunts most of these effects. The men, aged around 65 years old, were studied for an 8 week period.
Results were published in the Journal of Physiology: Resveratrol Blunts the Positive Effects of Exercise Training on Cardiovascular Health in Aged Men Lasse Gliemann et al. Journal of Physiology, July 22, 2013, doi: 10.1113/jphysiol.2013.258061
