The FDA has issued 510(k) approval for the Planmed Verity Extremity Scanner. Planmed's Verity system is intended to be used for X Ray computed tomography of anatomies within upper and lower extremities. It utilizes CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) technology to provide high resolution volumetric 3D images of the extremities at a particularly low dose. Unlike any other 3D imaging device, Planmed Verity also allows for weight-bearing imaging of the extremities. The device was granted CE mark approval in the EU in January 2013.
