The CHMP has adopted a positive opinion, recommending the granting of a marketing authorisation for the medicinal product Sancuso 3.1 mg/24 h transdermal patch from ProStrakan Limited which is intended for the prevention of Nausea and Vomiting associated with moderately or highly emetogenic Chemotherapy. The active substance of Sancuso is granisetron. The benefits with Sancuso as compared to an oral formulation of granisetron are its ability to provide effective doses of granisetron for the course of the chemotherapy with single administration of the patch removing the need for repeated oral doses for patients who have difficulties to swallow.
