ILC 2022 Basic Science Seminar:

"Emerging concepts in liver metabolism"

The two-day Basic Science Seminar at ILC 2022 will focus on the central role of the liver being a site of increasingly common metabolic disorders related to hepatic fat accumulation. From a macroscopic to a microscopic point of view the seminar aims to send us on a journey exploring organ crosstalk and multicellular communication that drives metabolic diseases. The various expertise of speakers will not only highlight the pathways impaired in fatty liver disease but that also provide novel potential therapeutic strategies for this disease.

The seminar aims to foster the interaction between leaders-in-the-field and the audience. It contains multiple short duo-lectures, with first a more general 10-minutes overview into the topic, followed by a more in-depth 10-minutes presentation by a talented fellow and finally an extensive Q&A of 10 minutes. In total 5 such sessions will extensively cover the field of fatty liver disease and associated complications such as fibrosis and cancer.

The program is attractive to both professionals from the basic science field as well as to clinicians who would like to improve their understanding of the mechanisms underlying disease and of potential future therapeutic targets.
