4.1 Therapeutic indications
Nitrofurantoin Oral Suspension is indicated for the treatment of and prophylaxis against acute or recurrent, uncomplicated lower urinary tract infections either spontaneous or following surgical procedures when due to susceptible micro-organisms (see section 4.4 and 5.1). It is indicated in adults and children over 3 months of age.
Consideration should be given to official guidance on the appropriate use of antibacterial agents.
