Pediatric Anesthesia: Postoperative and Procedural Pain Management (2nd Edition)

Read time: 1 mins
Last updated:23rd Jul 2012

This guidance was originally commissioned by the Association of Paediatric Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland (APA). It is intended to be used by professionals involved in the acute care of children undergoing pain management after surgery or for painful medical procedures. It is designed to provide evidence-based information on the efficacy of analgesic strategies such that an informed choice of analgesics that are appropriate for the patient and clinical setting can be made. The document includes advice on the assessment of pain, a summary of current evidence for the efficacy of analgesic strategies, including evidencebased recommendations grouped according to named procedures, and a resume of analgesic pharmacology.
This is the second edition of the guidelines – it was last published in 2008.
